HOW DO I BOOK MY SPOT?
There are only 30 spots available for MMA Amazon, with half reserved for alumni. Every event to date has sold out well in advance so we recommend signing up early to secure your spot.
You can secure your spot for MMA Amazon now with a $1500 USD deposit (click the ‘Book Your Spot’ link at the bottom of this page).
The balance is due in 6 months, either via a one-time payment of $7000 USD or 5 monthly payments of $1500 USD.
You can also save $ by paying in full today ($7500 USD).
NOTE: your deposit is non-refundable, however if you notify us by Oct. 1 that you can no longer attend the event then your deposit can be applied to a different future event. The credit will be valid for up to 2 years.
NOTE: Although all of the rooms at Tambopata Research Centre are pretty amazing, there are 8 suites that are simply amazing, and they will be assigned to the first people to sign up (so sign up early).
MMA Amazon is a 'put away your wallet' event. From the moment we pick you up to the conclusion of the event, everything is covered: your lodging, meals, activities, drinks, etc. At the conclusion of the event you may choose to leave a gratuity for lodge staff or your guides, but other than that you won’t need to spend any $$$.
Your spot on MMA Amazon includes:
Flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado*
6 nights lodging at Tambopata Research Centre and 1 night at Refugio Amazonas (our 1-night stop on the way to TRC)
Dinner and lodging in Lima on April 05 (we fly to Puerto Maldonado the next morning)
Snacks in between meals
All activities, including required gear
All drinks (non-alcoholic and/or alcoholic**)
Forums, workshops and other learning and connecting activities with your fellow adventurers
A sprinkling of magic and other goodies that we're not going to tell you about
Lifetime friends and a tribe that has your back
*NOTE: Your flight from Puerto Maldonado back to Lima is not included in the price. We’ve left this out as you might opt to fly to Cusco instead and visit the Sacred Valley and/or Machu Picchu, or visit other parts of Peru, before returning to Lima. A ticket from Puerto Maldonado back to Lima costs about $110 USD and we can provide assistance with booking.
**NOTE: Wine and other drinks are included in the cost, however the bar will close every evening at 10:30 pm, with the exception of the final evening. We want you to be in good shape for the day’s activities and be able to contribute and receive value from the activities and workshops, and that’s hard to do with a roaring hangover.
NOTE: Most people who attend MMA events are able to write the cost off as a business expense because of the learning and networking components of the event. We're happy to provide receipts stating 'executive coaching' or similar if needed.
Airfare to Lima (airport code LIM) is not included in the price. There are direct flights to Lima from many North American airports.
WHO WILL BE AT MMA Amazon?
Although we don’t have strict revenue or company size requirements (the caliber and vibe and potential contribution of the entrepreneurs attending is a much more important consideration), most of the people who attend lead companies between $1M and $100M in annual sales (average is $4M) and who consistently invest in themselves, their knowledge and their networks - and like to have a ton of fun and challenge themselves while doing it.
Past participants include:
Sarah Makhomet, Founder at HCS group of companies & CEO at Juniper Life Insurance
UJ Ramdas, founder of the Five Minute Journal
Hollis Carter of Baby Bathwater Institute
Brad Pederson, founder of Tech4Kids
Spencer Coppin, founder of Coppin Health and the Superhuman Summit
Jeff Spencer, former Olympian and Cornerman

WHAT ARE THE ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES? WHAT SORT OF EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
MMA Amazon will feature primarily land and river-based activities in the Amazon jungle: trekking, river cruises, canopy tours and tree climbing, and scientific research projects.
Due to the size of the group (35+ total people including local staff and MMA staff), we will be breaking into smaller groups of 7-8 people according to skill, fitness, and adrenaline level - so you can choose mild, wild, or in between (and can change from day to day).
No experience is required, although reasonable physical fitness and a willingness to take on challenges are a prerequisite.
All activities are optional - if you feel like ducking out of a particular activity and chilling at TRC, you're welcome to do so.
What does a typical day look like?
A typical day looks like this (sometimes workshops and forums take place in the morning, with activities in the afternoon):
Breakfast at 7 am
Adventures start at 8 am
Return to Tambopata Research Centre by 2:00 pm
Workshops from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Chill time from 4 pm to 6:30 pm
Group dinner at 6:30 pm
Evening talk from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm
9:30 pm to 10:30 pm: drinks and shenanigans
WHERE DO WE MEET Up, and when?
Our meeting point is Lima airport. You need to be there by 2 pm on April 05, 2020 so that you can join our group dinner that evening at 6 pm. We will pick you up at Lima airport and take you to our hotel in the Miraflores region of Lima. Since most flights from North America arrive early in the morning, we’ll have rooms you can check into so you can leave your things and catch up on sleep if needed.
Dinner on the evening of April 05 is included in the price, as is your hotel. The following morning we will be hopping on a group flight to Puerto Maldonado and the start of our adventure.
On the tail end of the event, we’ll leave TRC bright and early at 5:45 am on April 13, followed by a 5-hour return boat trip to Puerto Maldonado. You can fly back to Lima any time after 11:30 am, or you may choose to fly elsewhere in Peru and extend your stay (we can help with trips to Cusco, Machu Picchu, and the Sacred Valley).
There are several afternoon flights back to Lima from Puerto Maldonado, so once you’ve figured out your return to Lima you can go ahead and book your flight home from Lima accordingly.
HOW DOES THE LEARNING AND CONNECTING COMPONENT WORK?
Through the nature of spending 7 days in a beautiful environment, relaxing and pushing yourself with other inspiring entrepreneurs, you will naturally connect with and learn from each other. We like to take it a step further and apply a healthy dose of curation and structure to the learning and connecting component of MMA.
The adventures will conclude every day around 2:00 pm, leaving us the afternoons and evenings for facilitating the magic that happens when you connect incredible people with each other.
Some of things you can expect during the learning components of MMA:
Workshops with your peers (all participants will be expected to submit a topic for a workshop, the best will be chosen for inclusion in the schedule)
Evening talks on topics related to entrepreneurship and life optimization
Curated networking (and plenty of uncurated 'networking' at the bar, pool and beach)
what's the rooming arrangement?
Lodging is at the award-winning, remote Tambopata Research Centre resort on the banks of the Tambopata River, deep in the Peruvian Amazon (in addition to 1 night at Refugio Amazonas on the way to TRC, and 1 night in Lima). We have the entire Tambopata Research Centre booked for our private enjoyment.
The default rooming arrangement for MMA Amazon is 2/room - there are 6 single room upgrades available, at an additional cost of $1250 USD.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You will be provided with a detailed packing list 4 weeks prior to the event, and a final weather-dependent list just prior to the event. Mostly it's just appropriate clothing and whatever you bring on a typical weeklong vacation in the tropics.
IS THERE internet/WI-FI ACCESS?
Sort of. There is low-bandwidth wifi access at Tambopata Research Centre - enough for you to send a few emails but not much more than that (you’re in the heart of the Amazon for pete’s sake).
Because the lodge is run on propane, access to wifi (and electricity) is limited to a few select times during the day.
You may not get a great internet connection at this event, but we promise lots of real connection.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Attendance at MMA events is by invitation only. If you are invited, you will be provided with a password for the booking page to reserve your spot with either an upfront payment or a monthly payment. Alternately, we may open up a few spots for applicants - submit your application here.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
We don’t offer refunds on cancellations. Should you need to cancel after putting down a deposit, your deposit can be used toward a future event for up to 2 years after cancelling.
Your balance payment is nonrefundable, however demand typically exceeds supply and we should be able to find someone to take your spot should you need to cancel (we cannot guarantee finding someone to take your place though.)
NOTE: travel medical insurance is mandatory to participate in an MMA event; we strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip interruption and cancellation, and we can provide you with great affordable options.
CAN I BRING A PARTNER/KIDS?
Because of the limited rooming available at Matava resort, we will have no availability on MMA Amazon for non-entrepreneur partners and kids. If you are interested in bringing your partner and/or kids, please check out some of our other events.
